About the Artist

My interest in artwork began in elementary school. It was quickly apparent that God had deposited the gift of creativity in me as reflected in school projects and winning 1st place in a national book cover competition.

A love for creativity continued to grow in various forms over the years. After earning a Bachelor's degree in Interior Design and Fine arts and a Master's degree in Clothing and Textiles from Eastern Michigan University, I designed and made clothing for over 20 years. During this time, the painting was mostly put on hold.

All the while, the urge to paint remained strong inside me. I felt full of suppressed artwork that needed to be released. Finally the paintings began to surface. Impressionism to realism, landscapes, seascapes, florals and portraits were emerging in pastel, watercolor, oil, alkyd and colored pencil.

Now, several years later the paintings continue with great refinement after an apprenticeship in Flemish Realism painting. My work is infused with light in the way of the old Dutch Masters, bringing incredible life and realism to any subject. Further training in watercolor has also filled paintings with light in that media.

Each new painting is an adventure to see where God will take me next. What a joy and privilege it is to paint family treasures that will bless people's lives for generations to come.
